Well, I wasn't there long enough to really get the full on force of it, but they basically treated me like any tourist, with either an "ugh, tourists" or "wow, tourists!" sort of mindset. If anything, it was just more extreme because I look so different from an asian person.

Yes. MotownStax also defines "パンティー means underpants for women" I forgot one thing. Boxer pants (ボクサー・パンツ) are for men. So, there are four styles of underpants for men ブリーフ、トランクス、ボクサー・パンツ、パンツ. Young people prefer trunks or boxer pants to briefs. When I hear "pants" meant underwear, I imagine briefs. For older people, "pants" is a generalized name of all men's underpants. It's confusing because trousers are called pants.
